Last month, we were thrilled to be sitting in a room, surrounded by captivating projection artwork and enveloped by the sonic power of a 7.2.4 spatial audio array. We didn’t actually get to experience our first projection demo in context until after our event was over.

To back up a bit, we finished our first simple demo in the days following this past Christmas, putting generative AI animation to music. In January, we presented this demo to several folks in our Dolby Atmos mixer’s studio; we were told “Your concept is great! Can you show us what a virtual reality experience or a projection installation would look like?” At this point, we had no company and no cash.

We incorporated as Setl in February and closed our first round of immediate-network funding in May. On July 18th, we hosted about 100 guests to a private demo event in Las Vegas, showing three experiences: (i) virtual reality with binaural audio, (ii) projection dome with binaural audio, and (iii) 4-wall projection installation with a 7.2.4 spatial audio array.

We’re still writing the prologue of our journey, but July’s event was an exciting milestone to reach. This was the culmination of months of ideation, networking, organizing, and creative development. We were finally able to respond to those folks we hosted back in January.

We’re preparing for our pre-seed fundraise to support launching Setl experiences for live events and the development of our first three “sets” of content. It continues to be an exciting time and, if we haven’t already, we can’t wait to share these experiences with you.

Huge thanks to Lumen and Forge and Kali Audio for your partnership in our demo evening, to David Rodriguez, Tristan Cezair, Janie Fitzgerald, and Dan Kelly and The Factory for your creative partnership, and to many others for your ongoing mentorship and support.
